Hi Everyone: I realize class has yet to start but I wanted to set up a blogging platform for us and some other ways to connect to learning and to our textbook. As of this writing (Sunday, April 14) I already have about a dozen students signed up for the class and I look forward to working with you all this summer.
This course is usually deemed a Discovery course. In the fall and spring it is writing intensive but in this accelerated asynchronous version it isn't. The textbook is exciting to me as it will be a good background to the lectures and assignments and ways in which we work together. I will be using Tegrity lectures, as well as Blackboard and this blog as a way of working with you.
All sorts of students take this class. They can be at UNH but not always and they can be from many different disciplines. So in this first post, I am showing you an image of a famous 19 th century engineer called Isambard Kingdom Brunel - no one has a better name in architectural history than he does!
What is the difference between architecture and engineering? We will be exploring this foundational question in the class.
